So in your Spyro lore there are some key species of dragons. There’s the Kuros, the Chroma, the Desert Wyrms, and whatever Koof is. There’s also the Fear and Poison dragons, though I’m not sure if those count as Kuros Subspecies or not, like the Yoldahr and Kirins do. Laufeia’s spawn may also count or not, I’m not sure. So my questions are 1) do the Coreless count as Chroma, or their own species, and 2) what other major dragon species are there that we may not have met yet?

Good questions, all around!!! 😀

1. Coreless dragons can be found in and outside of Croma species, but the specific titles like Artisans to Dream Weavers are unique to the Croma. It’s just a genetic mutation that cuts them off from having elemental magic entirely, though they do possess ‘magic of the realms,’ hence the ability for Artisans to create works of art that can predict the future or perfectly portray past events that have no records. Or the ability of the Beast Makers to literally make living creatures out of dirt and rocks. This is one of the major reasons why the Croma consider themselves to be the ‘good guys,’ though the coreless dragons found within the Kuros are still given purpose and seen as valued members of their people, so long as they can prove themselves.

2. So far there aren’t really anymore than I can think of anymore that we haven’t met, but The Realms are a big place and full of magic; who knows what is or isn’t around? Also there are two major elemental dragons I haven’t officially introduced yet, both of which are deeply tied with the Kuros and the Croma both. But like the Dune Wyrms, they’re not officially affiliated with either, and operate secretly on both sides.

3. Koof’s species doesn’t technically exist in The Realms; she’s the only one of her kind. She’s actually, all things considered, an extraterrestrial being from another dimension. Hence her powers, her strange appearance, and her knowledge of events past, present and future that she has neither witnessed or been directly involved in.

Also, some interesting things I want to point out, because you raised some points that I think might need clarifying on:

  • Poison and Fear Dragons are actually defected Croma dragons. They just want to pretend like they are kin to the Kuros and are, in general, mostly a nuisance. They are either found attacking the Croma in the name of the Kuros, for their own gain, or a combination of the two, or selling their services to some of the Kuros’s greatest enemies. They just want to be part of the Kuros so badly because the Kuros seem to be the only ones who would tolerate them and protect them if they prove themselves worthy enough.
  • Laufeia’s wyverns, not to be confused with the Dune Wyrms, are technically dragons, but also not. They don’t have the ability to speak, write, or read, and have no free will of their own. None of the dragon species, subspecies or not, consider them kin, despite the fact that they are dragons to all intents and purposes. They are just horribly mutated ones.
