So what were purple dragons in your lore? Dragons like Spyro, Malefor, and the Lost Queen? Prophecied hero’s sent to deliver the world of imbalance, or simply a byproduct of unstable excess of magic? If Lost Queen is the Kuros equivalent while Spyro and Malefor are the Chroma equivalent, is there a Dunewyrm purple dragon? Or one for the Light Dragons?

TBH this question kind of stumps me because back in the day I was very unorganized and didn’t keep shit written down about lore regarding purples. I just usually went with whatever the game told me. But looking at it now, I think it goes more along the lines of this.

For the Chroma, they are a society that relies heavily on the presence of their gods being actively involved in their lives. Not on a daily basis, but sort of like the Kuros, they feel the presence of their gods in temples, when they pray to them, during certain times of the year, etc. This is mostly legend within their society now, but Purple Chroma are a rarity because purple represents god-like magic. The Purple are basically demi-gods given flesh sent down by the gods in order to do some big thing for the mortal people that the Chroma gods were stewards over. They had complete and total mastery over the elemental magics that the Chroma gods granted them, but they are to be used only in the way the gods want them to in the moment. For example, Spyro has the power over Fire, Electricity, Ice and Earth, with some of the sub-elements mixed in throughout various stages of his life. This changes due to the need or will of the gods, and in Malefor’s over-arcing story he is aware of this at some point. That’s why he got corrupted; he became aware, just like Spyro would if I ever did a TLoS story. Only in the case of Spyro, it does break his mind a little (with the help of Laufeia’s poison) but he doesn’t turn completely evil like Malefor.

The long and short of the purpose of the Purple Chroma, though, is that they’re demi-gods sent by the gods to unfuck something that a corrupt Purple did, or even a corrupt Chroma god did.

And as for the Dunewyrms, the Dunewyrms don’t have any kind of purple legends OR purple Dunewyrms. That’s about all I can say about that.
