Feuriah, the lass I love to hate! All joking aside, if two Kurosians of different class/blood (say, a Brokt & a Yinvaht) have multiple children, would the children be all the same blood? And are there any female Kurosian names meaning “tired, weary”? Plus, were names ever gender-specific? Like, I know your son’s name means Sea foam, but does the name Votiel only apply to males?

Lost Queen : Dyaw, you flatter me ❤

They’re of blood relation, it was thought that only the Yehkshir could produce offspring and not one egg would be blood related to another. In the case of your example, while the offspring would all be blood related to their dam and sire, they would be one breed or the other. Some would even be a different breed of the parents had different breed parents themselves.

Names aren’t too often gender-specific, males could be given female names and it wouldn’t seem ‘demeaning’ or ‘wrong’, as I’ve seen from other cultures.  The name “Voteil” describes a more gentle dragon, but he did come from two powerful dragons who fought more often than got along; like the foam that appears from agitated waters.

Lost Queen, what happens when both king and queen are killed at the same time? Do the Kuros make immediately a tournament to decide the new king and queen or do they wait?

Lost Queen : This has happened enough times that yes, a tournament is immediately held to elected a new mated pair. The Council of priests take hold of the kingdom to keep it running as smoothly as possible until a new King and Queen are selected.

Does Voteil’s name mean anything in Kuros, because his name kind of sounds like a regular name.. Sorry if I have insulted your naming skills you majesty.

Lost Queen : It is Kurosian for “seafoam”, but I care very little wether you think it’s regular or not. He was my firstborn and, for me, I gave him a sweeter name the moment I saw his eyes.

Lost Queen, i noticed that Voteil has a last name? I wasn’t aware the Kuros had last names , or perhaps its because they don’t and that ‘Kuroghvok (Kuroghson? Son of Kurogh?’ means something else? Also does that mean Cynder would be known as Cynder KuroghInvel?

Lost Queen : Oh yes, we often do have last names. Males often have their sire’s name, not all the time full. Voteil took on his father’s name despite Kurogh’s protests, as he WAS his son. It’s a way of telling others who your sire is. Or, some may keep an ancestor’s name as their last name as it may be more iconic for other’s to remember. It’s up to the parents, or the child when they’re old enough, which parent to add as their last names. Sons tend to take their sire’s, while daughters took their dam’s.

If Cynder wanted, her last name could be Feur’invel, “Daughter of Feuriah”, but I think most just know her as the Lost Queen’s daughter by now. But I do not know if she willingly has a last name, let alone takes on her people’s traditions on naming.

There are other ways of spelling out ‘son’ and ‘daughter’, if the name does not flow well. Like with Havok, his last name already means “Last Son” in Kurosian (technically), having his name Kaosvok doesn’t flow well. So it’s translated into english, Havok Kaoson. Hysteria’s last name is “Feur’ivel”, with the n taken out, but still translates as “Daughter of Feuriah”. “Yinn” is also another word for Daughter, but used mostly for names rather than in normal conversation like “Invel”

Begging your pardon Lost Queen, but i was just rather curious about something in particular about Kurosia. Did your kingdom – or at the very least the land surrounding it – have Kuros who’s jobs were to hunt down monsters? Like monster slayers for hire or the like? Could you please offer some clarity concerning this.

Lost Queen : Perhaps, but mostly for hunting purposes or if said monsters were a threat to the Kuros. Mind you, we are a dark race, therefor we support the evil behavior of most other creatures. Only if they get out of hand, or don’t show the respect we rightfully deserved, we’d often kill the monster and it’s family/clan if it had any.
