I dunno how it would effect everything because the Kuros could have possibly helped in that case, depending on the whole Malefor thing if he was the same species or not. Though, would be such an interesting thing if Spyro does a reverse Cynder and goes to the queen post Fall, turning into Dark Spyro upon crossing the Veil tho instead of it enraging her, she accepts him and allows him to join her ranks MUWAHHAHAAA

Classic bad guy sounding name, a play on Malevolent. But I always and still headcanon that it wasn’t his original name, rather a name he gave himself once he turned evil.

Lol yeee, but if I’m honest I’ve seen TONS of dragons made of fire/lava bits, Deathwing wasn’t the first but is just more commonly known. But I thought the exact same when I saw him too and I don’t even play WoW 8,D also Blizzard is part of the show soooOOOOooooo

I really like the design now that I’ve seen it in full and animated. Still wish he had his signature big ol’ side horns and that white stripe down his snout, and since he’s a King he’d probably have more decorative things on him, but I like. I like that they still did their own take and not rehash the original design, they didn’t let the fandom command them and they had fun with him. I tip my non-existent hat to em.

Kuros are born from Darkness, they are darkness embodied in a dragon species. Because of this, at least in Skylanders lore, when others are consumed by darkness or have dark forms, they mimic traditional Kurosian colors (the iconic black and silver) or they gain black markings (like Kaos and Wolfgang). Spyro’s dark form would appear Kurosian like, but it wouldn’t actually turn him into a Kuros. In WL canon, Spyro is corrupted by Darkness when he attempts to follow Feuriah and Kaos into the Veil. He’s able to slip in for a moment, but pulled out by Blackout and Knightmare before Breith is even aware he’s there (or, just watched curiously).

At first he can’t master it at all, but with the help of his friends and Eon he learns to control it. Eventually learning to switch it on and off. That’s pretty much what I had canon for WL (he’ll sometimes switch to piss Feuriah off into an uncontrollable rage, a surefire way to be a distraction), and I feel like that might be what the show will do. Not certain, just a guess!

Lol oh trust me, I’m fully aware this isn’t in the games x,D it was stated by Eric like, season one that Skylanders Academy was it’s own take on the Skylanders lore and wasn’t connected to the games, the comics, nada (except of course for nods and injokes). It’s like it’s own alternate universe and that’s how I treat it totally, as WL is the same; it’s own AU take on Skylanders. 

I re-watched the last two episodes specifically to get a better grasp on my own takes on the finale. This is just my own thoughts so feel free to share your own on this post too!

The whole Malefor/Cynder thing surprised me, and I freakn’ LOVED IT. Long, loooooong ago while I was still thinking of ‘what ifs’ for Feuriah’s Dawn, Cynder was going to be Malefor and Feuriah’s daughter before Kurogh was created. I drew a pic even of Cynder asking Ignitus about her father, and Ignitus looking conflicted to tell her as he knew. But, I was very dumb and deleted it when I decided that wasn’t canon anymore :T So, seeing him as her father again feels SO WEIRD that it’s good!

I was at first sad that Malefor wasn’t the one trapped in Kaossandra’s book, and that he was just a regular Dragon King. But, I quickly grew to like it. For one it made me question well okay, then WHO is in the book, and two they still gave him a dark backstory with him helping slaughter a species (or banish, i say slaughter because I’m melodramatic AF) yet he’s also funny and a doting papa. It’s a side of Malefor we never saw in games and it gave him more depth and character he’s ever had. (in canon I mean, not including fan works of course) Heck, I never even gave him that much likeability, which is something I want to re-consider now seeing how much it suddenly made me more interested in Malefor again.

Also played with the idea if like, Feuriah was just sucked into this AU like Crash was and had to meet Malefor again, only to have him loving Cynder as his daughter and asking Feur on a taco date 8,D Also I play with the idea that Skylanders Academy Malefor is a single dad because it’s cute. BEST EVIL TACO KING DAD.

Now, onto the huge reveal on the final episode. When Strykore walked out I was slightly disappointed, only because I thought it was like, Evilon or Evil Eon from the Mirror of Mystery level, but I like him. I think I was falling asleep on my first viewing because I did NOT remember Eon taking off his helmet. Of course, until we get season 3 nothing is set in stone so this is just guessing for funsies.

Kurt mused the idea that maybe Eon split himself into two beings; one of pure light, and another pure evil. The pure evil one could have been Kaossandra’s lover originally until she realized how blindly evil he was (as I headcanon that she’s a lot like Feuriah thinking that there has to be a balance of good and evil, one can’t topple the other but instead maintained). So good Eon wasn’t Kaossandra’s lover, but Strykore was and is Kaos’ true father. Though if this was true, I wonder why they didn’t give Strykore Kaos’ eye markings? His mother doesn’t have them and apparently his father doesn’t either, but I dunno. That could be an interesting question to ask Eric Rogers maybe but I semi-fear that might be a spoiler for season 3 in some way.

Though I’m not 100% convinced Strykore is Kaos’ true father. When Kaossandra flew to the Academy and urged Eon “Let’s save OUR boys!”, for a second I questioned if Strykore is actually Kaos’ older brother and Eon’s firstborn son, but posed as Kaos’ father to trick him into freeing him. But that feels pretty loose as an idea and maybe a little too far fetched. I lean more toward the split from Eon thing. I thought Strykore could maybe even be Eon’s brother and Strykore has the forehead markings too, but thanks to that cliffhanging finale we just don’t know for sure 8,D His personality pretty much lines up with whomever I would have made to be his father in WL (never had plans to give him a father tho, just have him as lore/backstory but long gone). 

Either way, GOOD STUFF!!! Just what I was hoping for with this season, it was better than the first one! My favorite part being the character development Kaos went thru… i was so proud of my boi 8,D Seeing him actually LEARN from things while still being Kaos was so freakn’ good, that’s the kind of Kaos I try to portray with WL. Though of course, WL Kaos is like 30+ years older than the one in the show 8,D not that it really shows visibly but with character development. It was like the ending of Superchargers, I was so excited with that because THAT was the first time Kaos had any semblance of character development (only to have him return to his usual self in Imaginators… yeah hated how Kaos was portrayed in that game story wise :< I knew it was to tie in to the show so they’d feel similar but ugh, after Superchargers it was a bummer). Only in this show, it was so much better and varied. Also breaks my poor heart how tormented Kaos is about his mother demeaning him since birth, how he just wanted a family to believe in him like a family should (owie). Of course Kaos still isn’t perfect and is taking a lot at face value, but it fits him and shows how much he wanted a family more. I just wanna hug him ;3;

Holy ramble batman O_O’ I still want to re-watch the entire series again and I will, but I’ll take my time digesting all this delicious new Skylanders content ;u; I don’t know how it’ll effect WL but I’m excited and inspired for sure!

He was… SUPER CREEPY D8 I hated that his spirit head thing would just, stare at you and talk directly to you. Kurt and I would cringe away from the screen whenever he’d talk to you, I just really didn’t like it 8,D

However in the show he’s not directly invading your space or staring creepily at you. Eon was always given that kind of wacky personality in lore, but it never really transfered as well as it did in the show. Show Eon, while still a dingus in a lot of ways, was a million times more likable. You got to see him just being him and not as serious or…staring into your soul. It’s safe to say Skylanders Academy Eon is the Eon I personally prefer over any of em

I’m honestly not TOO sure just yet, i want to give the season a few more watches before I decide if I should adapt some of it as canon for WL. For the most part, that Eon is perfect and is pretty much canon. Same with Spyro, only in WL he’s more spiteful towards the Kaos family to the point of character fault. 

What I had set as canon about Kaos’ family was taken from his very first bio. It’s been changed so much I dunno if you can find it, but originally his bio stated he and his father didn’t get along, he had many brothers that were successful, handsome evil rulers (all having glorious hair), and that Kaos wasn’t his birthname. He gave himself the name after kicking his father’s shins (there was a weird name the bio gave them which made me think he kicked his dad in the nuts and honestly that’s funny as sheit to me but in reality he’d probably be too short to kick that high 8,D ), and leaving home with Glumshanks after getting tired of his family shaming and making fun of him. 

SO, pretty much WL Kaos had that backstory that he cut ties with his family originally and his father disowned him. There’s always been theories that Eon was Kaos’ father for yeeeears, but I never adopted that head canon because 1) i did NOT like Eon at all until Skylanders Academy and 2) Didn’t feel interesting enough for me to latch onto. I relate to a toxic family better so I leaned closer to his father just being a mystery high ranking evil sorcerer (probably came from a line of humans that the Kurosian gods allowed to stay and ally with the Kuros at some point, teaching them deluded Kurosian and adapting dark magic). 

Buuuuuuut, I do like this take on Kaos. You guys have no idea how insanely happy I am with his character growth in this season, it was like the ending of Superchargers times a million. Finally something else shows Kaos NOT being unable to learn at all or have depth. THAT’S the Kaos I try to portray in WL, though I haven’t touched on how troubled him and Havok’s pre-18/Trap Team plotline relationship was because HOBOI it was a nasty rollercoaster of Kaos’s character having to adjust to being a father and it did NOT go well 8,D

Sorry for the ramble, oops, BUT I haven’t quite decided if I like the idea of Strykore being canon in WL. I’ll keep pondering though!
