Lost Queen : Kurosian Eggs are quite different than regular dragon eggs. They are known to have a very hard shell, able to survive relatively high drops without damage to the shell or infant inside, as well as survive some heavy blows from say a sword or an axe; but can be shattered with enough force. They are by no means indestructible, they’re simply harder to break. Having such a hard shell does make it difficult for the baby to hatch out, but infant kuronium is able to help them out if they have the strength.
The insides of the eggs are filled with a special mixture of nutritious liquids to help the baby kuros’s metal harden before hatching. However, if the egg liquids were consumed by a non-Kuros, the mixture that helps harden the kuronium is highly poisonous to most other species (except Uka and predators adapted to hunting and eating Kuros). The same components are also found in adult Kurosian bone marrow, again making consuming us a very, very bad idea.
Darkness is also within the egg mixture for the baby Kuros to consume to ensure it is born with some form of dark ability. The very darkness that makes up our Veil, leading many to believe that when we are born, we are given darkness, and when we die, we return with it to the Veil.
I have never seen a non-black Kurosian egg. They are all born with a black shell, and if they do have hints of color, it’s usually what the baby’s secondary color will be. Or eye color, or element. It can be hard to tell, but the main shell is some form of dark grey, or black.
Of course, my own egg was not. It was a fuchsia color, with speckles of dark and bright purples. Which led Warfang to believe that my egg was that of the Purple Dragons of legend. Looking back, if it hadn’t been those colors, I very well would have been crushed on site, or left in the wilds. I tried to figure out why my egg was so different, it wasn’t heard of among the Kuros before, but in the end I decided to let it go as it was an issue that I felt would never be answered. Nor was it important enough. It saved me from death before hatching, that’s mainly it.
