Lost Queen : The stories of Yukathul and Ooradah are some of the oldest of our tales, but they’re my people’s explanation of how humans became so rare in Skylands.

But, these two are not only the largest monuments of our city other than the castle, they’re also influences in Kurosian architecture. There were many statues carved in their image, positioned at the entrance of most important buildings such as schools, temples, and the main castle which has the second largest set of them.

Lost Queen : The Mahourian Brothers and Sisters were the most holy of all the priests and priestesses. Mahoura was believed to be our first God, therefor, the mother of all the other Gods and of us as a species. She is not the most powerful, but the most sacred.

To be a brother or sister within the walls of Mahoura’s temple is to completely give yourself to her teachings and to your people in a way most Kurosians could not. They dedicated their lives to the scriptures to educate our people of not just Mahoura, but also the Yehkshir and basic knowledge of the other Gods. The lead priest or priestess had a chair in the Dark Circle, which consisted of all the lead religious heads of each temple to provide the King and Queen advice and offer their services for battles.

To give yourself to the temple is incredibly noble and admirable, and to be honest… if I could not become Queen, I would have either worked to be a Scribe of the court, or a Mahourian Sister.

Mahourian brothers and sisters did not fight in war. Instead, they’d linger at the camps to help give wounded soldiers moral support, and to fill them with Mahoura’s love and essence. They would also help end suffering of those soldiers too wounded to survive.

They were not chosen by Mahoura persay, nor are they granted with special abilities. Rather, it’s an incredible love of their own people. Those that wish nothing more than to preserve what was our people, and to help them, became Mahourian. The Mahourian temple was also very closely linked to hospitals and other healing factions, such as medical education and colleges. Most doctors were Mahourian, but not all.

Lost Queen : Well in general speaking; our gods were beings of Darkness. To others, they appear as demons, and what fought for good were our ‘demons’. Rather, we considered the others ‘enemies’ less than demons; things we were meant to combat or control. But I do understand what you’re asking, and we did have some creatures that we could consider ‘demons’.

One of them was known as the Ukari’Sirbigh ( Oo-kuh-li-see-ur-bi-k) which translate to… *sighs*

Kaos : ….eh? Why are you looking at me?

Lost Queen : …which literally translates to “Uka King of Doom”

Kaos : …..HA! That’s a good name.

Lost Queen : -_- *sighs* Anyway, the Ukari’Sirbigh were giant god-sized Uka that lived in the Kurosian mountains. Uka, as I’ve mentioned before here are bat like creatures that have the ability to hypnotize us with their tails and eat us. The Ukari’Sirbigh was one that grew to full size and maturity, which often takes hundreds of years and lots and lots of Kuros to feed upon. While it’s called a ‘king’, other Uka flee if one is present, as it also feeds on other Uka as well, or kills them as they were considered competition for food.

I’ve definitely never seen one myself, Uka were rare enough as the Kurosian population dwindled. I doubt there’s any alive now honestly.

None-the-less, we considered these beasts an almost god like creature that symbolized the wrong treatment of Darkness; the very creature other villains and Kuros could turn into if they abuse that which was evil. Greed (as it often got them killed), betrayal of thy own people (as they killed other Uka), and destruction of everything that it once was; leaving nothing but a mindless, honorless, hungry beast.

Lost Queen : Oh, the Brujin Priests and priestess’? Sure~

Each God had it’s own sections of priests, priestesses, etc. Bruja’s priesthood consisted of both males and females, as gender or sex didn’t quite matter. They of course had to be accepted by Bruja to become such; if chosen, their eyes glow a bright blue, their secondary colors drained by Bruja to leave their scales completely black, and if they didn’t already have it, they also gained the Holy Blue Fire. Those born with the flame were often held higher in ranks among the churches, as Bruja specifically chose their eggs for a purpose. These chosen Kuros often became aids in war.

Most Brujin priests/priestess’ were exempt from going to war if they chose so, but if they did wish to aid, they often stayed back and blessed as many warriors as they could from afar. They also gave others the Holy Fire for a limited amount of time, or lent them extra energy. Each God’s following served different purposes in war situations, like the Mahourian Brothers and Sisters healed and helped rescue wounded Kuros on the field.

More duties of the priesthood of Bruja was to help others meditate to Bruja’heim, help complete the Bruja’Diofuil, and aide the King and Queen in decisions for war.

Lost Queen : Oh sure, these were some of the most interesting deities I studied, I really enjoyed them myself ^u^

Here’s the typical explanation of them –
The Yehkshir
There are fairytales of a shapeshifting dragon species within Kuros lore. The Yehkshir (yeh-keh-shire) were said to be the birthmothers of the Kuros as a species. They would disguise themselves as regular elemental dragons in order to find a desirable mate. Once found, the Yehkshir would then trick the male into breeding and then either kill them, or vanish to lay the eggs somewhere safe. There can only be female Yehkshir, and not all offspring end up Yehkshir. Most are born Kurosian, while one in 40 end up their mother’s species. None end up as regular elemental dragons either, although they may share their sire’s abilities.

These origin species have never been proven to exist, but instead live in fairytales and are often worshipped as Goddesses.

Our mother Goddess, or the Goddess of Love Mahoura, was said to be the very first Yehkshir. While we’ve never been able to prove they were real, unlike our other Gods, Mahoura once gave her people a description of them, and we carved statues and drew them off her descriptions. They were legend to be very large dragonesses in their natural form, some ranging from giants to as small as elephants. Those that did study their myth say that there were very few of them, possibly just a dozen, as they had constant hunters of light after them. We know nothing of these hunters of light either, and are just as much a myth as the Yehkshir.

They were also thought of as very agile, silent dragons. Stealthy, and precise. Their bones completely black, while their organs bright colors. Most depictions I see of Yehkshir show them as jet black with partially transparent frills/membranes, and glowing Bloodgems embedded in their skin. Usually black and red, but their secondary colors change. They don’t typically look much different, but then again, we’ve never seen them before. All we know of them are from Mahoura’s tales of them.

I wish I could provide more, but that’s all I know. I studied them, but more out of curiosity than a practice. I leave that to the priests and priestesses ^u^

This is gonna seem like an odd question Lost Queen but if your bones are made of metal, does that mean you’re more susceptible to heat and electricity? Depending about your bones melting point and conductivity.

Lost Queen : Oh not odd at all really, our metal bones have confused other species, but it’s something my people were EXTREMELY proud of.

Kuronium is one of the most strongest, if not THE strongest metal in the verse. It’s almost impossible to break our bones or even melt them. The way our blacksmiths would melt them down would be to pray to Wunjabrot, the God of Blacksmithing, while using specialized tools and magical fires. How the Arkeyans were able to melt our bones is beyond me, I never stopped to ask them.

But there are downsides to our bones. If our horns are struck with some materials, or a noise hitting the right pitch, our bones ring and can disable us momentarily. Or permanently, depending on the severity.

During the first years of the Arkeyan betrayal, the Arkeyan Dragon Hunters invented a deadly whistle. It played a frequency that could make our skulls rattle to a point it would make us deaf, blind, and unable to smell or control our bodies. That invention slaughtered many of our people, but the Kuros of the past were able to find out who invented them, killed them, destroyed all instructions to build the whistle, and burned the city. I have never heard or have seen this whistle in my lifetime, but I’m very glad I haven’t.
