Lost Queen : There are Kuros that have secondary colors on other places on their scales, yes. Many Kuros painted their scales, horns, claws, etc, but there are those that naturally had colored splotches.
Lost Queen : Kurosian Eggs are quite different than regular dragon eggs. They are known to have a very hard shell, able to survive relatively high drops without damage to the shell or infant inside, as well as survive some heavy blows from say a sword or an axe; but can be shattered with enough force. They are by no means indestructible, they’re simply harder to break. Having such a hard shell does make it difficult for the baby to hatch out, but infant kuronium is able to help them out if they have the strength.
The insides of the eggs are filled with a special mixture of nutritious liquids to help the baby kuros’s metal harden before hatching. However, if the egg liquids were consumed by a non-Kuros, the mixture that helps harden the kuronium is highly poisonous to most other species (except Uka and predators adapted to hunting and eating Kuros). The same components are also found in adult Kurosian bone marrow, again making consuming us a very, very bad idea.
Darkness is also within the egg mixture for the baby Kuros to consume to ensure it is born with some form of dark ability. The very darkness that makes up our Veil, leading many to believe that when we are born, we are given darkness, and when we die, we return with it to the Veil.
I have never seen a non-black Kurosian egg. They are all born with a black shell, and if they do have hints of color, it’s usually what the baby’s secondary color will be. Or eye color, or element. It can be hard to tell, but the main shell is some form of dark grey, or black.
Of course, my own egg was not. It was a fuchsia color, with speckles of dark and bright purples. Which led Warfang to believe that my egg was that of the Purple Dragons of legend. Looking back, if it hadn’t been those colors, I very well would have been crushed on site, or left in the wilds. I tried to figure out why my egg was so different, it wasn’t heard of among the Kuros before, but in the end I decided to let it go as it was an issue that I felt would never be answered. Nor was it important enough. It saved me from death before hatching, that’s mainly it.
Lost Queen : Oh yes, the Brokt has the most Gods actually, but then again, Brokt were VERY common Kuros. There were the Guardian Gods, then the Blacksmithing God who is also Brokt. Not every breed has their own major God, I’ve only spoken about a handful but we do have plenty of other lessor deities (sort of like Bhailiu is to the Yinvaht). But let’s see… there was another Goddess that I always found incredibly fascinating, yet one of the most terrifying of the Gods.
Adanbarinthen, also called “Araudan”, is a deep sea Goddess that lives in every form of water among the Kurosian mountains. She keeps to the deepest, blackest waters more so than commune with the people. Sort of like Breithonakt, who kept to himself and his duties. And, like Breithonakt, there are very few depictions of Araudan since she can change her form, but she’s rumored to look similar to some deep sea creatures with mossy, underwater tree branches along her body. She has, like most of our gods, multiple arms that are long and spindly ,with two of the longest and biggest arms being near her head.
To all but the Kuros, she can be the very embodiment of water fears, as she loved to torment her victims by tickling their legs while they swam. Then, when they were scared enough, she’d pull them under to the blackest parts of the waters only to drown as she forced them to stare into her apparently hideous face, with only the luminescence of her skin and teeth lighting it up.
Her tale is that when Skylands began to form seas and lakes, those of Light and good would hide in the watery depths from evil. Mahoura saw the need to fix this imbalance, and with the aide of her children (the other Gods), she created Adanbarinthen to bring darkness to the water. Araudan started as a tiny sea dragon, but as she learned the fears of others, evolved her body to bring the most terror. She can travel to any body of water not purified by Light, but is known to stay among the Kurosian mountains the most.
After her creation, Adanbarinthen laid a single egg. That egg hatched into Inbarrnán, the blue and black Yehshire believed to be the one to give Kuros the water ability.
Kuros with water abilities often worshiped Adanbarinthen so they could master the evils of water like she. She’s over-eager to do so to not just the Kurosian people, but any being of evil and darkness. However, she won’t reach out on her own. Kuros with water abilities had to study in colleges and cities built around large bodies of water that held special temples to contact her. Within Kurosia, there was a single college with a temple within it as a last resort when less and less cities survived.
Araudan was often rumored to be very mischievous and playful in her own sick way. Taunting her victims, and even playfully scaring her own worshipers. She has been known to giggle, though it’s no pleasing sound. She can mimic other underwater creatures, as well as people.
I’ve never met Araudan, but she was one of the most interesting goddesses. I loved studying her and reading all the stories about her. I still have a lot of them in my personal library, if I’m seen reading a book, it’s usually about her.
OOC : This is actually a god I’ve been dying to make, because I AM VERY MUCH AFRAID OF SWIMMING IN LAKE WATER. This god, I knew from the start, was going to embody that fear of mine. It all stemmed from when I was a kid swimming in a lake, saw a tree in the middle of the lake, swam up to it only to look down and realize the tree was upside down in the water so far I couldn’t see it’s top. It’s limbs were covered in algae and looked more like shriveled corpse arms reach up to me. Sufficed to say, I was scarred for life x,D Ever since, I imagined lakes were infested with dead bodies. I wouldn’t say I have a phobia, but lakes make me nervous and I will avoid swimming in them.
I was very uncomfortable the ENTIRE time I drew this thing, and that’s exactly what I wanted. I kept myself on edge the whole time, not too much to cause any severe anxiety, but enough so I translated that uncomfortable feeling to
Araudan. I had tons of pictures of Dragon Fish, which were the main inspiration, and lots of other deep sea creatures. I also listened to creepy underwater noises, and an hour long video of whale calls. I find deep sea creatures fascinating and I looooove reading and watching videos about them, even if it scares me.
((Maa-aura)) is the Goddess of Love. It was once thought to be very strange for the Kurosian people to have such a Goddess, but the term ‘love’ isn’t quite the same. Mahoura represents the love of thy own people, the tie that bonds the Kuros together. She is thought of to be the first Yehkshir, therefor the mother of the species as a whole. She is the smallest of the Gods, often portrayed as an eastern styled dragon with countless arms along her body. Her head, although small and slender, is crowned with a triceratops like frill with complex holes carved in peaceful designs with blood gems scattered along them and her body. Her main statue, which is held in a large temple in the middle of the city (or the heart), is also adored with a flowing mane. She is said to be present in every Kurosian when they feel connected to their people, the feeling of pride and love is her.
OOC : Um, I don’t think I ever shared this here. O-oops o-o’’’
This originally was my first go at Mahoura. I’m still not happy with how she looks, even though it was never finished. I’ll go back to it one day, drawing Mahoura is quite the feat and since she’s pretty much the ultimate God of the Kurosian people, I want to be more satisfied with her appearance.
But it’s worth sharing! I can’t believe I forgot to share ;n;
Ari is ever bit of a flier that Ruudtal is any where she goes he would go too, he would hate to be showed up by her. However he prefers to get close enough to see the fear in this opponent’s eyes. Like yin to her yang he excels at close combat, with metal bones and a electric pulse few enemies can touch him. He can focus his magic through his horns like Ruudtal but it has a short distance and is kind of hard to aim.
Attacks/Defense:
Thunder Boom: Slams claws into the ground and releases and thin veil of lightening accompanied with sound barrier busting boom, stunning and knocking opponents back.
Lightening Lance: Electricity filled charge that can either be lightening fast or a slower running charge to hit more enemies at once. Can be used to dodge.
Ballroom Blitzzz: Expands and shadow sphere to encompass both and whoever he is fighting before turning into a streak of lightening to batter his opponent or opponents to ashes. Breaking his combo cancels out the attack.
Armor:
Light Kurosian armor embedded with blood gems. He does not don this armor lightly as it is one of the only ones left of its kind. Made by Ruudtal and a friend.???
Before Krypt King’s backstory was released, I saw his official art and immediately got excited for possible theories for him. I couldn’t quite remember, but I think his concept art was released at some point too, and I-Wei Huang’s original idea of him being like a “Chop Chop Daddy” just made me think of Krypt being like some sort of heavy duty warrior trained to handle the Arkeyans’ most lethal enemies. What was their greatest enemies? Ahahaha yiss, the Kurosians.
I was a bit unhappy with his backstory when it was released, but decided to instead just have a different take on this very awesome Trap master. Similar, but different. His design is not the same as the in-game model on purpose too. I LOVED I-Wei Huang’s concept arts of him so I’m actually sticking closer to his original concepts.
To read on not just Krypt King’s concept back stories, but the many MANY others I-Wei Huang designed, I totally say check out his blog. I will ink the specific post I often peek at just because I loooove behind the scenes kinds of things, seeing what artists do to come up with their ideas and what inspirations they get is just the best!
Nickname – Krypt King Real Name – Unknown Species – Arkeyan Spirit Knight Gender – Male Element – Undead Role – Past : Kurosian Dragon Hunter, specializing in combat Now : Trap Master & Skylander
Personality – When not on duty, Krypt King can be quite mischievous. Using the inexpensiveness of his face and ability to keep completely quiet, he often plays little pranks on his fellow Skylanders and Trap Masters. He has a monotone type of humor, but naturally is quite eager to make others laugh.
However, when on duty, Krypt completely changes. He becomes alert, vigilant, and rarely speaks unless needed. At least, when he deals with the Lost Queen. While on duty with the Lost Queen, Krypt keeps at least one of his three eyes on her at all times and watches for the smallest signs of an attack no matter how cunning and sly on her part.
History – In life, Krypt King was known by his now unknown birth name. Alive during the time of the Giants and the height of Arkeyan strength, Krypt was birthed into a life that had already been decided for him. He was to be trained as an apex warrior to fight the Arkeyan’s greatest enemy; The Kurosian Dragons. The Kuros were plentiful in his time, and the Arkeyan leaders demanded their precious bones to continue to make their machines and armor. They trained specialized warriors to trap and combat the unique dragons in the most efficient, deadly ways.
Growing up, Krypt had amazing strength and surpassed any test laid before him. He felt no guilt for taking down the evil dragons to harvest the bones, proud to serve his people and aide in their advancement. He was given high ranks, and was soon served under a general during one of the largest, most dangerous raids. The village was situated upon one of the steepest parts of the black mountains, but Krypt was not afraid. The raid, however, took a dastardly turn for the worst.
The battle was long and bloody, both sides losing more and more until Krypt felt true fear for the first time. He had cornered a frightened Kuros when he saw his leader brave leader fall to the Kurosian’s wrath. Now just as scared as the Kuros at the end of his blade, he listened as the black dragon offered him a deal. He would fly Krypt King away from the fight if he swore to let the dragon live. Krypt King agreed, and rode upon the Kuros’ back as it flew them both away from the battle.
Krypt King immediately felt guilt at abandoning the fight, but unfortunately, he did not have to regret it for long. The Kuros had flown him away from the battle, keeping it’s promise, but it had taken him to another Kurosian village.
Immediately, Krypt King was killed by the Kuros he let live. It tossed Krypt’s body down the mountain while it kept his soul in a gem to use as boasting jewelry. Krypt King’s body was then lost deep within the Kurosian Mountains.
Krypt King’s soul gem stayed among the Kuros for hundreds of years, being passed down generation to generation of the Kuros that turned on him. One day, the Kuros that wore his gem dropped the heirloom near Skylands and shattered it. Finally free, Krypt King swore vengeance, however he needed to find his body before he could do anything.
His soul wondered for centuries looking for his lost body, but he could not find it. Eventually, his soul found a band of Skylanders lead by Headrush. He pleaded their help with finding his body, and they eagerly accepted. Headrush led the band of Skylanders and Krypt’s soul deep into the Kurosian mountains without fear, and did not give up until with the help of Trap Shadow, they found his body.
Bone Chompies had been worshiping his body as some sort of deity, keeping his body within an gigantic crypt and seated upon a mighty throne. Of course, the chompies would not give the body up without a fight. Stuck as a soul, he could not do much, until he found a nearby sword and with all his spiritual strength he possessed a sword to fight with. Even still, Krypt was overwhelmed, and once more felt the same fear he had all those years ago. But the Skylanders jumped in eagerly to help him defeat the hordes of chompies.
Finally, Krypt had his body back! He once again took charge of himself and eagerly picked up the sword to take revenge on the Kuros… but the Skylanders had to break the news to him. He learned that he could no longer seek vengeance as the Kuros were, at the time, believed to be extinct. Unable to have his revenge, Headrush suggested that he join the ranks of the Skylanders to fight all forces of evil.
Now without meaning, but ever so thankful for all the help they had given him, the undead warrior eagerly accepted. He had long forgotten his true name, so Headrush gave him the name Krypt King and took him to Eon, where he then trained to become a Trap Master.
