Lost Queen : Your first guess was correct, actually. Dark magic and unique malevolent fire of some sort (like shadow fire, aura fire…there’s lots of different types of fire) was traditionally used to hone Kuronium. The smithing done in Kurosia was the best, most advanced forms of this, as we had the blacksmiths (that often doubled as priests and priestesses for Wunjabrot, our blacksmithing god) that could sing the prayers needed for Wunjabrot to bless the metal, making it powerful and the most magical. It’s still possible to smelt our metal other ways, but it’s often not as strong as Wunjin-honed Kuronium. The metals I have now aren’t as strong as they once were, as Wunjabrot is… silent, like most of the other Gods.

I have a random question about the Kuros. Do you have to be entirely black to become a Kuros or can you have some bright colours just not the entire body. Like lets use mrs lost queen for example what if she had more purple colours on her instead of black? Would she still be considered a Kuros? Or what if someone was completely idk red or yellow with very little black but had relatives that were Kuros? Would they be a kuros too?
Lost Queen : The key thing about Kuros is our black scales (which can be a dark grey all the way to jet black) and Kuronium, the unique metal that is our bones. If the dragon’s main scale color is not black, AND if they do not have Kuronium; they are not Kuros. Secondary colors are just that, secondary, a complimentary color instead of main. But, it is possible for another species of dragon to have Kurosian blood in their line. Very possible, actually; Kuros have been around for quite a long, loooong time.
Kuros are very strange when it comes to genetics. I think I could be the best example with this. None of it is proven, since I never found out who exactly my mother was, but it’s likely that my father, Acerbus, had Kurosian ancestry. A banished Kuros could have survived the hunters and reproduced with another species of dragon, but while there aren’t exactly ‘half breed’ kuros, some of the offspring could have been born the non-kurosian species but still carried the genes to produce a Kuros later down the family tree.
There have been times a Kuros pops up in say… Warfang, yet neither of the parents are Kuros. It happens. Happened to me. I was lucky as others had stood up for me. I’m certain there had been a few before me that weren’t as lucky.
What were Kurosian homes like? Were they like apartments? Or were they separate?
Lost Queen : We had homes, apartments, faction houses, etc. Mostly made of dark wood and stone. At the very entrance of the city, just past the sky ports, we had special inns that non-Kurosian visitors had to stay in, as you had to be a Kurosian citizen to own property within the city or even rent. There were exceptions for visiting royals of the sort, special sections were closed off within the castle for such cases.
You said that an outlaw Kuros can be blessed by a god and than it’s curse will be removed so it can return to it’s people. What must the Kuros do gain a blessing from a god?
Lost Queen : No easy task, I can assure you. They would have to do some amazing feats to make up their sin to appease the Gods. There are tales of marked Kuros being re-accepted, but during my time I’ve never seen it. I’m actually not that sure what they would have to do…

Princess Blaire Ebonthyst-Skyblazer by lemmingluv
(please read deviantart description for more info)

[…]It is said that after many a broken clutch, the gods finally smiled down on the King and Queen, gifting them with a single egg. Some say that the other children did not survive as the gods were too busy sculpting the beauty and grace that was the First Heir, the sweet princess of a young kingdom. Bearing scales of ink and heart of gold, the young Yinvaht quickly captured the hearts of her subjects, and kept a firm grip until the day she died. Born with gleaming white Kuronium and innocent eyes of emerald, all around her were simply enchanted. The ancestors did sing her name as she ascended to the throne, Princess Blaire, the fairest of all maidens.
She may seem like a giant Mary Sue, but Spyro and Cynders daughter is under constant pressure, training her hardest the become a strong future queen for her people. After Exhilaratus, her brother, disappears from the kingdom, even more pressure falls on Blaire to keep things running smoothly on her own.
She must always strive for perfection, as it is what’s expected of her.

I have noticed other types of dark dragons, such as Blackout’s breed. Do these have any connection to the Kuros, possible as cousin species?
Lost Queen : Kuros are one of, if not THE, most ancient species of dragon known to Skylands. We are the core embodiment of darkness. Because of this, we have countless of other species that have evolved from us, and who owe their relations to us. Such as the Skylander known as Blackout, yes.
Ondol’binthine Lost Queen. I’ve been curious about the Kurosian powers for some time. Is it correct that each Kuros is born with an element like any elemental dragon? To recap, there are also rare elements like the blue fire and fury, but I am curious to know the full element roster, rarities included, to perfect my knowledge. Also, it’s been stated that Kuros are born with a skill in dark magic of some form, but I don’t recall ever hearing what these skills are. Would you care to elaborate?
Lost Queen : Ah, Benach’Seir~
Yes, that is true for the most part. It is us that hones our powers with the magics of evil and darkness.
But a roster? Oh spirits, I do not know if I could list all the elementals. As there can be so many deviants under the same elements. Some fire elementals could not breathe fire, but could manipulate fire, only breathe gusts of heated smoke, shoot heated coals, or even streams of scalding water. Some wind elementals could only deal with sandstorms and others lightning. Most dragons were unique in their powers, and trained under one or possibly even multiple schools to master their abilities.
There were colleges and schools Kuros could go to, such as a fire elemental school, magic school, water schools, etc. I personally went to a Magic college but majored in Aura Magics, minoring in Dark Magic (using blood magic and darkness spells) before going into Military/Queens colleges. In order to apply to upper colleges at all, you had to have a masters (or doctorate in some fields) in your element. Convexity was eventually labeled as Dark magic, like my major it was considered a form of Aura Magic, where one uses their own aura or spirit energy to form attacks.
All Kuros were able to use magic in some form, even if they do not know it. It can take years to tap into those magics if they are not raised with it. It is our connection with the darkness that gives us this natural ability. We just use this magic to aide us in honing our abilities for evil purposes. There are Kuros that use dark magic alone as their ability, and they are the most dangerous magicians in Skylands. Or, were, rather..

OOC : DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Lost Queen : The stories of Yukathul and Ooradah are some of the oldest of our tales, but they’re my people’s explanation of how humans became so rare in Skylands.
But, these two are not only the largest monuments of our city other than the castle, they’re also influences in Kurosian architecture. There were many statues carved in their image, positioned at the entrance of most important buildings such as schools, temples, and the main castle which has the second largest set of them.
