OOC : I have such a hard time trying to think of what to really do with the Light Dragons. I have ideas, but nothing that’s really stuck with me or strikes me as fitting for the world Kurosia is based in. Kuros/Kurosia all started with Cynder’s appearance, the armor in DotD, stuff like that, but I’ve really liked the idea of the Kuros lore being able to stand outside the LoS/Skylanders lore too. Personally, I love working with villains WAY more than good guys, so it’s not helping either x,D I’ve noticed that I just love to make things that people thought were good turn out twisted and bad (Warfang), while those that are evil and dark have so much more dignity and collection. I know very well aspects of my life effects this greatly, but it does make designing/creating the light dragons difficult without turning them into monsters -_-
I feel that should be the case, that the Light Dragons are the Kuros, but their opposite, and are hidden away in their own Veil while the Kuros took foot on land past their Veil. Like the time Mahoura was born, she had a Light sister (Aruoham would be a funny name, ahahaha x,D) who instead of finding a place in the mortal world, left for the heavens and developed her light there while Mahoura fought to balance whatever her sister came up with. That or like… I kind of like the idea that Mahoura birthed a Light Yekhshir to bring balance to the worlds, thinking “Light is birthed from Darkness”. I DUNNO, but I agree with you in that the Kuros and the Light Dragons would have nothing to do with each other unless it was the work of the Gods, or yeah, magic of some kind x,D
A weird idea I had (oui no pun intended), was that if an albino Kuros was born, the child would be taken to a temple on the very outreaches of the Kurosian Mountains. There, a creature similar to Bhailiu would take the child to the Light Dragons, thinking that the child belonged with them and not the Kuros. As if like, albino Kuros have the ability to become Light Dragons, or Kuros. I’m not so sure a;sldkfja;sldkfj
OOC : It’s probably best Feur’s not a Yinvaht, Athrenna probably never would have let her go x,D And the brokt Feur… Kaos would have been utterly destroyed by that amazonian woman O_O
OOC : They’d be incredibly loud, wobbly, awkward little things, which in my book is cute af. I imagine they’d sound like all these things and wobble around like newborn chicks x,D
OOC : OH NO, IT’S FUZZY AND CUTE
Subspecies – As Kuros are one of the most ancient species of dragon known to Skylands, there are countless subspecies that have evolved from them.
- Yoldahr ( Pronounced “Yol-dare”) are a wyvern subspecies. Known to have had clans deep within the Kurosian mountains. This subspecies tend to have more of a snake-like appearances with retractable poisonous fangs. The markings along the Yoldahr’s body have an engraved appearance to them, accompanied by spiral patterns on their wings. The Yoldahr are reclusive in nature, and highly aggressive. They weren’t known to commune with the Kuros villages and cities, but rather kept to themselves among the mountains hunting Uka and other unfortunate prey. They were said to be able to speak, but were very primal and savage than their Kurosian forefathers. And, unlike the near extinct Kuros, there are still plenty hidden among the mountains. There are many different species of the Yoldahr, but all resemble snakes (species shown above are known as Kull’Yoldahr, viper like wyverns). The only part of the Yoldahr that has Kuronium are their fangs, though their skeletal systems are stronger than typical dragon bones.
Societal structure –
Yoldahr mostly make chattering, screeching noises rather than speak a language. They are clan oriented, but clans usually only consist of 5-10 Yoldahr, lead by a single alpha. The alpha is often the largest and strongest out of the rest, and is the most aggressive. The clans as a collective are highly reclusive, and stick to dark, damp reaches of the mountains to reside. They hunt the beasts that roam the mountains, targeting Uka and other predators in favor. They are not known to hunt Kuros, but will show territorial displays, which often does include attacking as warnings. The alpha is often the only one of the clan allowed to breed, they choose their mates by a variate of different ways. Some have mating dances, others judge by size, color, strength, and in some cases even screams.
Abilities
– Yoldahr are poison elementals. They are able to shoot poisonous projectiles, bite to inject venom, have poisonous barbs on their tails, etc. Although they are clan structured and rarely speak, Yoldahr are highly intelligent dragons.
Sizes
– While they are a wyvern subspecies, Yoldahr are actually larger than most elemental dragons. Sizes depend on species of Yoldahr.
Lifespans –
These wyvern dragons can live to up to 500-600 years, but as is typical of the Kurosian species as a whole, they don’t usually live too long. Due to the harshness of the environment and their social structure, Yoldahr are lucky to make it to 50.
Now this was a fun species to bring to life! A long, loooong time ago, I received a few asks about possible branching species of Kuros that were like wyverns and whatnot. This lead to me updating the Kuros page on Weirdlanders to add in subspecies, including these guys. But, just never drew them out. I tried a few times, but didn’t quiet like how they were working out.
But, I recently got a new ask wanting me to delve into the Yoldahr! After finishing the mini commissions, I felt like a doodle of one would be fun! And… well… I ended up drawing a reference sheet x,D Though, this is just one kind of Yoldahr, one based off of the badass bush viper! I have ideas about their actual lore, but nothing’s really finished up yet.
OOC : Pretty hawt, I’d say!

Some time after the Fall of Kurosia, the Arkeyans learned how to make genetic clones of plants and animals. Because Kuronium was such a strong metal and due to the subsequent lack of it due to Malefor’s raid, they began genetically cloning Kurosian dragons in massive test tubes. The dragons were kept alive until they reached adulthood, when they were promptly killed and their bones were harvested.
That is, until one day they hatched a Seuth. He was clever, he was smart. He knew that he had to keep up his act of playing dead for as long as possible before attempting to escape and free the others. For years, he remained still inside his test tube, nourished by the vitamin-rich water he was housed in. Finally, when he reached his adolescence, he broke free of his tube. The lab was empty, and that is where the Arkeyans made their deadly mistake.
The young Seuth shattered the other tubes, awakening at least a dozen of other Kuros in the lab before dashing to the massive incubators where the Arkeyans kept the eggs. The group not only escaped with the eggs, but also with every wretched life of the Arkeyans that dishonored them. With every one of the others free, the young Seuth fled with his people into the mountains to hide. He had visions, flashes of a horrifying past and memories he wasn’t sure were his; He had visions of grand black buildings that clawed at the sky, statues and a wall of pure darkness; Then came the visions of that great city ablaze, his people screaming and crying for help, the shrieks of apes and laughter of a false god.
The others asked him what he saw and what they should do.
The piebald Seuth answered his people simply. “We go home.” They had a lot to do before they could even begin trying to make their way to Kurosia; They needed to let the eggs finish incubating, they had to build their strength. They were only children after all, and their only chance of finding the place was following the words of a Seuth. And even then, how far did they have to go? Would anyone help them? Were they all that were left of the Kuros?
All of them were troubled too. They all had memories and names they knew were not their own, but one thing was certain: They had to go home and Chonaic, the piebald Seuth, was their only chance.
They called themselves the Ifrean a’Rugaht, the Hellborn, because of the horrid beginnings. As they continue to make their ways toward home, they can only pray to their gods that they find others and that their people will welcome them despite their disgusting origins. But then again, who would? They were abominations, a disgrace to the Kurosian people. Being a Kuros was already a bad thing in Skylands, and being born not of the way a true Kuros should be only added insult to injury. All they can do is hope.
OOC : this is fuCKING AWESOME AS ALL HEEEEEEEEEEELL!!!! DOOOOOOOOOD ALL OF MY YES THIS IS HELLA RAD. Such a badass read, I loved it oh my god, so clever and fun THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS AWESOMENESS!
OOC : Indeedy do! Feuriah’s egg was the only purple one of the clutch, but that was expected by Yahvii. Doesn’t mean she’s Yehkshir herself (oh lawd imagine Warfang’s reaction if a freakn Yehkshir hatched instead of a Shire Kuros x,D ).
Feuriah is, or was, the first Kuros to be born with the Convexity element as her sole element. The Kuros themselves didn’t even know what her abilities were, as only the purple dragons could breathe convexity previously. Those of Feuriah’s bloodline are able to use Convexity, which would explain how Cynder was able to use it.
For Weirdlanders, Havok and Hysteria don’t have the ability, however. They have their own benefits, as Havok can manipulate all elements but light (he’s not a portal master, but close. He could rival that of the purple dragons I suppose, but again he can’t use Convexity). Hysteria has an impeccable connection to the Darkness that makes her powerful, that and she’s a portal master.
OOC : For the hybrid question, they’d most likely be banished, making them ‘non-kuros’ in the Kurosian’s eyes. Most likely however, they’d be hunted down shortly after banishment by other Kuros. For training purposes, for game, many reasons. But most wouldn’t want the shame of the Kurosian people to keep walking around.
PS – Also, YES. Some kuros could be bipedal. I don’t have a separate breed for em or anything.
