Lost Queen : Kruta! Ah yes Kruta, he was one of my closest friends when I was in training. I mentioned him before, but I can happily speak more of him.

He and I got along very, very well. He wanted to become a Professor, which put him in my advanced training unit as myself. I took as many courses possible to gain as much experience as I could, and this put me in a special course that the Queen’s very son was taking part in.

We were both very determined dragons, of course it was expected of him to strive to be the best given that his parents were the King and Queen. I became friends with Raigur’Ja shortly after meeting Kruta, and the two couldn’t be any more different. Kruta and I were often study/training buddies, so we spent a LOT of time together. He was very smart, cunning, but very quick to anger. We didn’t argue much, but when we did, it always resorted to a sparring match. No matter who won, we’d usually go out to a treat shop afterwards, haha xD

I mentioned before that Kruta and Raigur were different… and very much so. Both were very proud dragons, we all hung out from time to time but the two would bicker like mad. Raigur would often try to persuade me from studying to be Queen and to instead become a Silverwing, which would anger Kruta since he mostly thought Silverwings were just arrogant, un-educated meatheads. I can’t tell you how many times they’d fight -n-’

Kruta was my first real Mjol, or ‘boyfriend’, we just got along so well that I ended up truly enjoying the times we spent together. Love was of course heavily frowned upon, but if it hadn’t been, I’m very sure Kruta would have been my first love.

But sadly… at our very first real battle with a legion of air pirates, Kruta was hit by a missile that blew his head clean off his shoulders. I remember nodding to him, then looking away just as the missile flew by my helmet. It had missed me by a talon, but struck Kruta instead.

For years, I kept one of his feathers as a bookmark for my studybooks. I used it as a reminder to never forget him, to keep going to be the best damn Queen Kurosia ever had. He believed I could do it, he never let up on me when I doubted myself. Even after his death, if I questioned my will, I’d always hear his voice in the back of my mind to never give up. He was my inner training coach, I suppose. Heh, the day I became Queen, I could swear I felt him watching me from the Veil, smiling with pride.

I found a book during the time Cynder was staying with me that had Kruta’s feather in it. I didn’t tell her, or show her; our relationship was still too fresh for me to share such a tender memory, but oh the joy and happiness I felt when I found it. Sadly, though… the book went missing shortly after, actually quite a few books did. I just believe that I had imagined finding his feather…

Lost Queen : Well there was Talv, but he was the only one I knew of. Very, very mellow dragon from what I remember, worked in the blacksmithing forge down in the city. Beautiful horns, but he didn’t seem to thrilled about them…er, or anything. His family came from a cave-dwelling tribe deep in the Kurosian mountains rumored to have been slain by a pack of Uka, but he, like many who come from slain clans, didn’t speak about it. He seemed to have a sense of humor though, he was really good at telling jokes with a straight face.

Is it possible for a Kuros to be multicolour? Or have different colours of horns/spikes?

Lost Queen : As long as our main scales are black, we have bones of metal, and the Darkness naturally pulses within us; yes. We have many secondary colors; I’ll be honest, I felt quite unique with my fuchsia secondaries. There were plenty of black and red Kuros, or even pink, but purple wasn’t common.

As for horns; yes to that as well. Different horn colors, and textures, are usually a sign that the Kuros is from a different region of Kurosia. Kuros have many different breeds, the ones I’ve listed are just the most common in Kurosia during the time of my rule. Most Kuros were silver/grey horned, but that was because Kurosia was the main hub while other cities and villages home to the other breeds were eventually wiped out.

Here’s some more info on different bone/horn coloration and texture ((Click Here))

Lost Queen : We had COUNTLESS songs,  too many for me to really list. But we were mostly known for our Battle Songs, which this post goes into more detail with

As for dancing, we had plenty of dances too~ My personal favorite dances were the ones we’d do in the skies. We’d cover our bodies with darkness, and paint over ourselves in whatever patterns we liked. We’d take to the sky, and dance with our wings.

Lost Queen : Oh spirits can I, I could talk about her for hours. But… hm, I’ll pick something more specific, as so I don’t write an entire novel about her.

Queen Athrenna was rarely seen without her helmet and armor. I grew up thinking that it was because she always wanted to assert her regal appearance, but growing older I learned that it was because of her… scars.

She has… had, three ‘major’ scars that she just couldn’t seem to heal. The ones on her wing she received by the same kingdom of sphinxes that Scratch is from. The wound was in attempt to disable her left wing, but due to Athrenna’s strong will, was able to heal it leaving only the scars. Scales seemed to refuse to grow over them, and so she simply kept her armor on.

The scars on her chest are from Burdohk himself. She received it during her battle to become his mate, and since then Burdohk seemed oddly ashamed of himself. Our belly plates, if broken, can take over 50 or more years to heal again, but she never seemed to heal the ones on her chest. I always thought she wore her chest piece because Burdohk told her to. But, from what I learned from the journals of their maids after Kurosia’s fall, Athrenna wore a chest piece to keep her King from feeling bad about scarring her.

Lastly, the scars on her face. Athrenna seemed to be ashamed of them the most. And sadly… I have no idea how she got them. She never told anybody, and she entered Kurosia with them as a young teen. Athrenna herself came from a small settlement of Yinvaht Kuros near one of the many large lakes in the mountains. Her village was destroyed by Arkeyans, so many assumed she received her scars from that battle. Any specifics are unknown… the secrets of the scars on her face died with her.

Hysteria, do you ever have problems with the spirits haunting the castle and city?

Hysteria : Not at all. The castle has been cleaned out of those pests for the most part, and I’m not stupid enough to wonder down into the city like my twit of a brother. They’re pretty easy to ignore, though during some quiet nights I can hear them howling in pain. It’s a nice lullaby ❤
