How did you come up with the Briethonakt’s design? It’s really amazing and intriguing! I love it

Aw my doods! Thank you so much! And here I almost didn’t give him a design at all, as almost nobody sees him (in story, anyway) 8,D

@crispyfishsticks was the biggest inspiration for him, their artwork is such a HUGE inspiration to me in general I have to credit them, especially for Kurosian beasts and gods. The way their own creatures look fills me with such eagerness to make monster creatures, and I hope to someday reach that artistic ability they have. I adore their linework, the way their work seems to flow yet be so full and monstrous, a;sdlkfalskdf I could honestly gush all day about their stuff ;u;

Then there’s also @torntethers, another artist whom I look up to so much for similar reasons, but different style of making such creatures. Torn has the elegance in their style I hope my own can do in time, and was actually a really awesome person to commission! I commissioned them to do this BADASS piece of Araudan, the trickster Goddess of the Sea!

With those artists being my inspiration, I dug deep into some of my own fears of what I’d think would be utterly terrifying to see only glimpses of in darkness. This is kinda entwined with my fear of the open water/lakes etc., something that Araudan is based on too. I wanted him to be so massive you could feel him move even if he wasn’t near you, and have the air filled with thousands of creatures stuck to him; screaming in agony, yet all you see is mist and wisps of darkness.

But actually drawing him was a bit of a pain; I just sat down, brought up my inspiration’s work to motivate me to try things I normally don’t, and just drew! Trying not to give him too many normal dragon features, something bumpy and weird and kind of hard to look at and understand. Originally just drawing with no plans to draw him again, erasing things I didn’t think works, drawing over it again and again until I felt happy. I try not to think of them as dragons sometimes; like a head, neck, torso, etc. But rather making irregular shapes, things weirdly proportioned, that stuffs 😀
