I just read the Wings of Fire books and, trust me, you’re not too old for them! They’re very well written and pretty dang brutal. o_o The gravity of the situation is pretty well addressed in all of the books thus far. I couldn’t read past the first Ga’Hoole book for the same reasons you mentioned, but these books do a much better job balancing out lighthearted stuff with action and drama. All the different dragon cultures were rad, too.

OOC : Really now? Oh good, you know I’ll get the first book and try it out then 😀 I FELT SO BAD THAT I COULDN’T GET INTO GUARDIANS! I’m so crazy about the movie, but I felt so sad that I was just a tad too old for the books (I grew up with Warriors, so I was a sad panda xD) Thanks hon!

Hey mun! Have you ever read Wings of Fire by Tui. T. Sutherland? If you haven’t… read them! Oh my gosh I cannot describe how epic they are!

OOC : I’ve been very tempted to! The thing keepin’ me from trying them out is that I’m afraid I might be a little too old for them. In the sense that like, how it’s written for younger readers. That was the issue I ran in when I tried to read the Guardians of Ga’hoole books. They were good, but since it was written for younger readers it was harder for me to really get into. Some scenes couldn’t go into how messed up the characters situation really was, or how they couldn’t push things TOO far.

Though, if I ever get a chance to try a Wings of Fire book, I’ll take it for sure! I have heard good things about it ^u^

Back in late 2009, I commissioned my idol at the time (and someone I still look up to) Emryswolf to draw December and Nikolios. I wanted to commission her to draw Rashida at one point, but before she could open up again, she vanished from dA. I really miss looking at her art, I even dropped some hefty cash to get original pieces from her, pieces that still inspire me when I see ‘em.

I thought it would be interesting to show these, as this is what Niko and December originally look like before they were more ‘toonified’ for Weirdlanders/Feuriah’s Dawn.

Is there an alternate universe where Votiel lived and got to grow up? What would he have been (and been like) if he’d lived?

OOC : Actually, in the Feuriah’s Dawn LoS timeline, Voteil lives 😀 He isn’t born before Cynder, he’s actually born way after and by a different sire (Asiirha). Feuriah’s the one who sneaks out of Kurosia with Cynder’s egg and gives her to Ignitus the night before the raid on the temple, but when she returns, she finds her city ablaze. Unlike the Weirdlanders Fall, Feuriah actually escapes with a small population, and they hide  away until the events of DotD. Between that time, Feuriah and Asiirha have Voteil 8D

Not that I had a lot of intention with this, but I thought about a plot after DotD, where the Kuros set up a embassy in Warfang, and Voteil gets to meet Sparx. Voteil never got to meet his sister, and with Spyro and Cynder still missing, he and Sparx set out on an adventure to find them 😀

Could we get more Umbracorn and Kirin lore 8D ? They looks so amazing!

OOC : The Umbracorns and all things related is a combination of both myself and @spookoofins! We’re still collaborating, but she’s already done a LOT of footwork like the amazing booty she is! We’re both super excited to release them, we’re digging into our childhoods when it comes to making them so it’s close to both of us ;u;

I was wondering, what did Voteil think of his people belief to be evil to keep balance ? I just have a hard time imagining such a sweet kid being okay with all the destruction and suffering the Kuros caused.

OOC : Voteil was a sweetheart, but he was still very young. His mother and Asiirha were teaching him why the Kuros were dark beings, what their purpose was, and why they had to do the things they had to do. Voteil was sort of ignorant to the real horrors of war (sadly, until the night of The Fall), and his child mind had a hard time really grasping the reality of things. He was only 6 afterall 😀 He was more focused on learning to hone his ability to help his people, like the little sweetie he was.

The Short History Between The Xorens and The Kuros

Many millennia ago, the Kuros had cross paths with the Xorens on the battlefield while fighting an unknown pack of creatures. A Kurosian warrior was the first to encounter the Xoren night, at first the Kuros was ready to fight this mysterious stranger, but the Xoren never moved he didn’t even make a fighting stance. This dragon was odd, it wasn’t just his presence that was intimidatingly strong, it was the dragon in general, he was up right, on his hind legs, standing up straight. Is this dragon even a real dragon? It didn’t matter to the Kurosian, this DRAGON could be an enemy, for all the Kuros could know this DRAGON could even be the one behind the attack by the strange creatures so the Kuros puts himself at the ready. Just when he was about to attack, one of the creatures pounced on top of the Kuros, he couldn’t move, the creature was over top of the Kuros pinning him down. The Kuros tried to shake off the creatures ragged claws desperately, yet to no avail. The Kuros was sure that his fate was sealed with knowing he was more than willing to accept death, but unexpectedly the Xoren killed the creature to save the Kuros. He was confused and grateful that his life was spared, but at the same time the Kuros was becoming angry with himself for being so weak. The Xoren didn’t want him to get too down about it so he tries to cheer him up by giving him advice. It helped the Kuros put the problem behind him for now, but it was no excuse he voud to train harder form that pint on. The Xoren was happy that the Kuros was no longer upset so he wanted to get back to the task at hand because the scene around them had went silent, it turned out that the fight was over. Now stood two armies, staring at each other in confusion and on the ready to fight, this stirred tension between the two. To make things worse the Kuros and Xoren was between them with the Kuros on the ground. The Xoren knows that he needed to move carefully, he didn’t want to spark anything so he let the Kurosian pick himself up then put a short distance between them. The Kuros said his thanks for saving his life and was just about to leave, but the Xoren asked an unexpected requests. He wanted an audience with the leader of their army.

To Be Continued…
